Archiving Policy
Fundamental Scientific Reports in Multidisciplinary Areas (FSRMA) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, integrity, and availability of its published scholarly content.
The journal recognizes that digital preservation is essential for maintaining the scholarly record and ensuring continued access to published research in the event of technical failure, platform migration, or discontinuation of the journal website.
Digital Preservation
FSRMA maintains its published articles, issue records, supplementary files, and associated metadata in digital form through its Open Journal Systems (OJS) publishing platform.
The journal maintains appropriate technical backups of its website, database, article files, and metadata to reduce the risk of permanent data loss.
Routine website backups support operational recovery but are not considered a substitute for independent long-term preservation.
LOCKSS Preservation
FSRMA supports preservation through the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) framework provided through Open Journal Systems.
The journal provides a LOCKSS archival gateway that enables participating LOCKSS libraries and preservation systems to collect and preserve published journal content.
LOCKSS Gateway:
https://fsrma.org/index.php/FSRMA/gateway/lockss
LOCKSS is designed to preserve scholarly content through distributed copies maintained across participating archival systems.
CLOCKSS Preservation
FSRMA also provides a CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) archival gateway through its OJS platform.
CLOCKSS Gateway:
https://fsrma.org/index.php/FSRMA/gateway/clockss
CLOCKSS provides a distributed preservation infrastructure designed to support the long-term survival and accessibility of scholarly content.
The availability of an OJS archival gateway facilitates preservation functionality; however, the journal will only claim active membership or deposit with a preservation network where such participation has been formally activated and confirmed.
PKP Preservation Network
FSRMA is published using Open Journal Systems, the journal is technically compatible with the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).
PKP PN provides preservation services for eligible OJS journals through the PKP PN plugin.
FSRMA is actively preserved in PKP PN only after the PKP PN plugin has been enabled successfully and journal deposits have been confirmed.
Until active deposit status is confirmed, PKP PN should be described as an available preservation mechanism rather than as an active archive.
Long-Term Accessibility
FSRMA is committed to maintaining continuous access to its scholarly content in the event of:
-
Website downtime.
-
Server or hosting failure.
-
Platform migration.
-
Change of domain.
-
Change of publisher.
-
Technical disruption.
-
Permanent cessation of publication.
Preservation arrangements are intended to maintain access to the scholarly record independently of the availability of the primary journal website.
Open Access and Preservation
FSRMA is a fully Open Access journal.
All published articles are made freely available immediately upon publication in accordance with the journal's Open Access Policy and applicable Creative Commons licence.
Open Access and digital preservation serve different purposes. Open Access ensures immediate accessibility, while preservation mechanisms help ensure continued availability over the long term.
Preservation Formats
Where technically available, FSRMA preserves scholarly content and metadata in stable and widely used formats, including:
-
PDF.
-
HTML.
-
XML or structured metadata.
-
Supplementary research files.
These formats support future accessibility, interoperability, discovery, and migration.
Metadata Preservation
The journal maintains structured bibliographic and publication metadata associated with its content, including:
-
Article title.
-
Author names.
-
Author affiliations.
-
Abstract.
-
Keywords.
-
Publication date.
-
Volume and issue.
-
Article or page information.
-
DOI.
-
Copyright information.
-
Licence information.
-
References and related metadata where available.
Metadata preservation supports the continued discovery and identification of published articles.
Persistent Identifiers
Where assigned, FSRMA articles receive a Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
DOIs provide persistent identification and help maintain stable links to scholarly content even when website URLs or publishing platforms change.
A DOI supports persistent identification but does not by itself constitute a long-term digital preservation system.
Corrections, Retractions, and Version Control
FSRMA maintains a transparent scholarly record when articles are corrected, retracted, or otherwise subject to post-publication action.
Where applicable:
-
Corrections are linked to the affected article.
-
Retraction notices are linked to the original publication.
-
Retracted articles normally remain accessible and are clearly marked as retracted.
-
Expressions of concern are linked to the relevant article.
-
Associated metadata is updated where appropriate.
Further details are provided in the journal's Corrections, Retractions and Expressions of Concern Policy.
Preservation Following Journal Closure
If FSRMA permanently ceases publication or its primary website becomes unavailable, the journal will seek to ensure that previously published scholarly content remains preserved through available archival and preservation mechanisms.
Where participation in an external preservation network has been activated, preserved content may remain available through that network according to its preservation procedures.
Platform Migration
If FSRMA moves to another domain, server, publishing platform, or publisher, reasonable measures will be taken to preserve:
-
Published article files.
-
Journal issues.
-
Metadata.
-
DOIs and persistent identifiers.
-
Supplementary files.
-
Corrections and retraction records.
-
Archival continuity.
The journal will seek to minimize disruption and broken links during migration.
Repository and Self-Archiving
Authors may also deposit permitted versions of their articles in institutional, disciplinary, or other scholarly repositories in accordance with the journal's Repository and Self-Archiving Policy.
Author self-archiving supplements, but does not replace, the journal's responsibility for preservation of the official published record.
Legal and Ethical Compliance
Digital preservation activities are conducted in accordance with applicable:
-
Copyright requirements.
-
Creative Commons licences.
-
Privacy requirements.
-
Data-protection obligations.
-
Confidentiality requirements.
-
Research ethics standards.
Content subject to legitimate legal, ethical, or confidentiality restrictions may be preserved with appropriate access controls where necessary.
Policy Review
FSRMA periodically reviews its preservation arrangements and will update this policy whenever its active archiving services or preservation infrastructure changes.
The journal will only identify an external preservation service as active when participation or deposit has been verified.
Relationship with Other Journal Policies
This policy should be read together with FSRMA's:
-
Open Access Policy.
-
Copyright and Licensing Policy.
-
Repository and Self-Archiving Policy.
-
Corrections, Retractions and Expressions of Concern Policy.
-
Publication Ethics and Research Integrity Policy.
FSRMA is committed to maintaining the long-term integrity, accessibility, and preservation of its scholarly record through reliable and transparent digital preservation practices.
